Water Well Drilling in Kimberley, BC
Mountain-slope and valley wells for Kimberley, Marysville, Meadowbrook, Wasa and the St. Mary Valley
At over 1,100 metres, Kimberley is the highest city in Canada, and drilling here looks different from the valley floor below. Properties on the slopes above town, along Mark Creek and out toward St. Mary Lake often mean drilling into bedrock rather than gravel.
Our Cranbrook yard is about half an hour away, so Kimberley is part of our home territory. We drill for full-time homes, cabins and acreages across the area.

What’s Under Kimberley Properties
Ground conditions change quickly between the mountain slopes, the Mark Creek valley and the Trench benches.
- Slopes above town and toward the ski hill: thin soil over hard bedrock in the Purcell Mountains. Wells rely on water-bearing fractures, so yields vary and depth is hard to predict without nearby records.
- Marysville and the lower Mark Creek valley: layered sand, gravel, silt and glacial deposits. Those layers can change quickly over short distances, so nearby well records are a better guide than one Kimberley-wide number.
- Wasa: Wasa sits over a mapped shallow sand-and-gravel aquifer. Across 171 recorded wells, the top of the aquifer was reached roughly 20 to 116 ft below ground, and static water levels vary considerably from property to property.
- St. Mary Lake and St. Mary River: recreational lots near the water, where well siting, setbacks and seasonal access are the main planning issues.
The area also has a long mining history around the former Sullivan Mine. Water testing is a sensible part of any new or purchased well here.

Water Well Services in Kimberley
Bedrock Wells
Air-rotary drilling for hard-rock wells on mountain properties, with casing set to keep surface water out.
Cabins & Recreational Properties
Wells for cabins and second homes near St. Mary Lake, Wasa Lake and the resort area, planned around access and seasonal use.
Modest-Yield Wells
If a bedrock well produces a modest but steady flow, the pumping system needs to match its tested yield and recovery rate. In some situations, added storage makes the supply more practical.
Testing for Buyers
Flow and water-quality testing before you buy a Kimberley-area property on a well.

Kimberley Water Well FAQs
Why can wells on the same road be so different?
In fractured bedrock, water follows cracks in the rock. One lot can hit a productive fracture at a modest depth while the next has to go much deeper.
What if my well doesn’t produce much?
A modest-yield well can still serve a household when the pump and water system are designed around its tested yield. We’ll look at your numbers and recommend an approach.
Can you drill in winter?
Winter conditions change access and setup. If you’re targeting a spring build, contact us early so we can plan the site and schedule around snow.
Should I test my water?
Yes, especially when buying. Bacteria and standard chemistry are the minimum, and we can suggest what else is worth checking locally.
